Cookie Policy

About this policy
This page explains exactly what cookies and similar storage technologies the Valley Accounting website uses, what each one does, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website. We use the term loosely here to also cover local storage, which behaves the same way for privacy purposes: it is information saved in your browser between visits.
Strictly necessary
We use one piece of local storage to remember your cookie preference. Without it we would have to ask you again on every page. This is treated as strictly necessary, so it is not gated behind a consent prompt.
- va-cookie-consent: stores the value accepted or declined. Set in the browser when you make a choice. Does not contain personal data and is not sent to any server.
Functional (only with your consent)
The contact page includes an embedded Google Map of Hebden Bridge. When the embed loads, Google sets its own cookies on your browser. We have no control over the exact list, and Google describes them in their own privacy and cookie pages.
The map is gated behind your consent. If you decline cookies, the embed is replaced with a small static placeholder and no request is ever made to Google. The map will only load if you click Accept in the cookie banner or on the placeholder.
What we do not use
This website does not use:
- Visitor-tracking analytics such as Google Analytics
- Advertising or remarketing cookies
- Social-media tracking pixels
- Third-party chat widgets
We do have access to aggregated reports through Google Search Console, but Search Console does not place any cookie on your browser. The data Google shares with us is generated entirely on Google's side, from search results.
If we ever change this, the change will be reflected on this page and the cookie banner will re-appear to ask for your consent.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Clicking it re-opens the banner so you can switch between Accept and Decline.
You can also block or delete cookies and local storage from your browser's privacy settings. Every modern browser has a clear option for this.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we change which third-party services are used by the site. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change.
